Did you ever wonder whether it’s best to get the cheapest possible granny flat, or whether you’ll get what you pay for? Our Director Farah Drake notes “We may not be the cheapest and we’re not trying to be. We are about quality. We don’t skimp on materials.”
Farah also talks about why it’s sometimes worth investing that little bit more (and how it might also save you money $$ in the long run!)
Our building materials, including the kitchen cupboards and windows, are all Australian-made. Some builders have these items made overseas where the price is cheaper but so is the quality. Our windows are made here by Stegbar, Australia’s most trusted name in windows for over 70 years.
Quite often colour selections for granny flats are limited to a small number of colour options with other builders as these are the items they acquire at a cheaper rate….we don’t limit colour selections. We think it’s worth the time and effort to ensure that you can match the colours of your granny flat to your personality and preferences.
The skeleton of the granny flat is not built to the bare minimum 70mm frame but rather a 90mm timber frame. Why does this matter, you may ask? It provides a much straighter more structurally sound home, helping your granny flat to be durable, sustainable and long-lasting. Also the pitch of the roof in our competitors may be the minimum for a metal roof whereas ours is a pitched roof.
Our specifications are very comprehensive, we try to include as much as possible so that the price is not constantly being increased because you want say the verandah, interior and exterior painting or even floor coverings.
